Vedanta Seeking Partners For Proposed Aluminium Park in Odisha

Vedanta Aluminium, a part of the Vedanta group, has sent invites to aluminium producers for its proposed Aluminium Park in Odisha.

Jharsuguda is poised to become a hub of the aluminium industry. However, setting up an aluminium park would require an expression of interest from several companies who wish to invest in the hub. Once completed, the hub would provide economic benefits to the companies who manufacture out of the aluminium park, and hence conglomerates like Vedanta have already made the beeline for entry.

The park will offer facilities such as water, power, hot metal supply, dross processing plant, as well as other benefits to companies that set up their manufacturing units in the park.

“To develop a thriving ecosystem of aluminium-based SMEs and MSMEs in Jharsuguda, Vedanta is committed to supplying 3 lakh metric tonnes of aluminium to companies who set up their facilities in our Aluminium Park. The project brings with it three-fold benefit to the state – investments by MSMEs from across the country in the state, creation of large-scale employment opportunities for the local talent, and significant revenue in the form of taxes and duties for the state exchequer,” said Rahul Sharma, CEO of Vedanta’s Aluminium Business.

The said event comes at a time when Odisha is grabbing headlines at the national stage over its industry-friendly policies. Over the past few years, the state government has relied on outreach programmes and incentivised investors to park their money in Odisha. The program has already reaped benefits and is continuing to look positive despite an industrial slump induced by the pandemic last year.
