IIM Sambalpur To Open Incubation Centre In Bhubaneswar

Indian Institute of Management Sambalpur (IIM-S), one among the country’s premier B-schools, plans to open an incubation centre in Odisha’s state capital, Bhubaneswar, to groom and support entrepreneurs from small towns. The move is designed to “incubate the youths searching for jobs,” said Mahadeo Jaiswal, director of IIM-S, on the sidelines of an event in Bhubaneswar.

He noted that the institute had already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to start the programme. The institute plans to boost such entrepreneurial spirits with the aid of digital technology.

Jaiswal also said that an incubation centre would first be opened in Sambalpur, which will act as a pilot project, before being opened in Bhubaneswar. The director said that his institute is also planning to help the weavers of Sambalpur and its neighbouring districts to market their products through the digital medium.

“Now the traders use the traditional way of marketing by selling them to middlemen or local traders and get very less profit. But they can directly sell their products to customers by using e-commerce platforms and derive more profit. We are making a design of this project”, he added.
