Odisha Adds More Facilities to its Sports Infrastructure

Sports in Odisha has received another major boost as three facilities were added to the existing infrastructure. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the following sports facilities in the state.

Multisport Indoor Stadium, Hinjilicut

Spread over 1.5 acres of land, the indoor hall has playing courts for badminton, volleyball and basketball. It also has facilities for yoga, gym and physiotherapy.

Chhatrapur Indoor Hall, Ganjam

With a seating capacity of 300, the Chhatrapur Indoor Hall is equipped with 3 wooden-floored badminton courts of international standards.

Shooting Range, Kalinga Stadium

Odisha Sports Infrastructure

The shooting range at Kalinga Stadium will have a 22 lane 10-meter range and a renovated 50 metre range. The range can cater to 60 athletes each day for training. It is managed by Aditya Birla – Gagan Narang High-Performance Centre.

Chief Minister Patnaik inaugurated the facilities on a virtual platform and also announced that a synthetic-turf Hockey Training facility would be constructed in Chhatrapur.

“As a part of the 5T initiative, the state has a focus on complete transformation of sports sector in the State. We will continue to support sportspersons in their endeavor to achieve excellence,” he said.

Appreciating the vibrant sports culture of Ganjam, he said that Hinjilicut Indoor Stadium and Chhatrapur Indoor Hall have been created to further promote sports activities.

He added that India has been a major force in shooting at the global level. With the launch of the 10 metre and 50 metre shooting ranges in Kalinga Stadium, Odisha will also produce a large number of shooting champions.
