ISL: Odisha FC Sign Redeem Tlang On Loan

Indian Super League (ISL) club Odisha FC have announced the signing of Redeem Tlang on loan from FC Goa for the rest of the season. The forward from Shillong Lajong youth academy has struggled to get game time in FC Goa.

In the current season of ISL, Tlang has only played for 39 minutes as a substitute in one match. Meanwhile, he played 13 games across all competitions last season, ten in the ISL and three in the AFC Champions League, scoring one goal. In the Durand Cup during pre-season, Tlang made five appearances and scored one goal.

The forward made his name during the 2013 Shillong First Division League, the second tier in Shillong’s football league structure, where he scored plenty of goals. Subsequently, coach Singto promoted him to the senior side. He made his professional debut at the I-League for the Shillong Lajong on October 28, 2013, against the Churchill Brothers at the Nehru Stadium. The forward went on to spend nine years at the Lajong.

Tlang’s first ISL appearance came as a substitute for NorthEast United FC in a 3-0 win against Chennaiyin. Following this, he joined them permanently at the start of the 2018-19 season. He scored his first goal in the ISL against Bengaluru FC in a 2-1 win.

“I think Redeem is a good addition to the team. He is a player with experience in the ISL. Redeem is a player with pace, with good abilities in both legs. He can play in the attacking zone and outside of it. It’s good for us bringing his experience and competitiveness to the squad. We are happy to have him on board”, said coach Kino of Odisha FC.

“I’m very happy and excited to be here and joining the Juggernauts. I’ll give my everything for the club”, said Tlang.
