Odisha Government to Resume Offices with 75% Staff

The Odisha government has given a go-ahead to resume normal functioning of offices of its administrative departments in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, starting December 1. The capped limit will be 75% of total strength on the payroll, including Group A officers, on any day of the week. Furthermore, all state government offices shall remain closed throughout all Saturdays in December, as per the order released.

Until November, the state government offices were functioning with 50% strength to avoid crowding in office spaces. However, as recoveries are on the rise and surveys point towards wide development of antibodies, the state General Administration (GA) has issued the order to up the manpower in its several offices.

The order asks the departmental secretaries to ensure that work does not become a calamity in view of the reduced workforce. The heads of the offices in the twin cities have been given a free hand to decide on the roster for attendance, as long as it complies with the present 75% attendance rule. However, essential services like special relief commissioner, disaster management authorities, police, fire services, health services, municipal services have been sanctioned full working strength in view of the services they render.

The officers and staffs, who have been provided with Virtual Private Networks, have been asked to Work From Home when not physically present in the office premises. They have also been instructed to not leave headquarters without due permission and have to remain available on the telephone at all times.
