Odisha CM Launches 22 Projects Worth ₹4,461 Crores
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for 12 industrial projects and flagged off ten more projects from multilateral sectors through video-conferencing from the Lok Seva Bhavan.
The project proposals were received during the first two editions of the Make in Odisha conclave, which has struck the right chords with the investors. In all, they present a net investment inflow of ₹4,461 crores and carry the potential to generate around 9,451 employment positions.
Among the projects inaugurated include three from the metal and metal downstream sectors, two each from cement, food processing and plastic manufacturing, and one from power and renewable energy sector. Emphasising industrial growth as one of the key targets for his government, Patnaik said that over the last twenty months, his government had undertaken the job of inaugurating over 120 industrial units and drawing investments worth ₹92,682 crores, which went hand-in-hand with the generation of nearly 1.2 lakh jobs.
Of the major initiatives for which Patnaik laid the foundation stone, one of them is the ₹1677 crore project for steel plant expansion in the Sundergarh district, which is owned by Rungta Mines Limited. In a boost to the tourism sector, he also laid the foundation stone for a resort at Satpada in Puri district, owned by the Mayfair Hotels, which comes bundled with an investment of ₹125 crore by the promoter.
