NITI Aayog: Nabarangpur, Kandhamal among Most-improved Aspirational Districts

NITI Aayog’s Delta Ranking for July has been published as two districts of Odisha have found a place among the top five most-improved aspirational districts. Nabarangpur and Kandhamal have made the cut for having adopted sustainable agriculture practices and efficiently managing water resources. This report was released at the New Delhi headquarters of NITI Aayog.

About 112 aspirational districts in 27 states have been ranked under six developmental categories based on incremental advancement made in health and nutrition, education, agriculture and water resources, financial inclusion, skill development and necessary infrastructure.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s office took to Twitter to express their joy saying, “With continued adoption of sustainable agriculture practices and efficient management of water resources, Nabarangpur and Kandhamal have emerged as top districts in @NITIAayog Delta Ranking. Development of agriculture and farmer empowerment are sustained priorities”.

Notably, the aspirational districts programme was introduced in January 2018. The initiative aims to transform backward districts that have failed to show progress in key social areas.
