Naveen Patnaik Inaugurates 14 Police Stations To Tackle Cybercrime and Economic Offences

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday inaugurated 14 police stations across the state for the investigation of cybercrime and economic offences.

“The state government is committed to providing a modern policing system with a well-trained police force to counter technology-based crimes to protect their life, liberty, and property effectively,” said the CM.

Commenting on the seriousness of cybercrime, Patnaik added, “What makes cybercrime more worrisome is that it is anonymous, and not restricted by jurisdictional boundaries. Since the source of information is invariably based on servers existing in foreign countries, collection of evidence against the perpetrators becomes challenging”.

Along with cybercrime, the newly inaugurated police stations will be dealing with economic offences, that are increasing every day, affecting the individual citizen as well as causing injuries to the financial health of our country.

These police stations will be having trained policemen and technical experts equipped with the latest hardware and software. The units will be carrying out the necessary investigations in the field of economic and cyber offences.

Apart from these, the Chief Minister also inaugurated three upgraded police stations in the state. The first one has been opened at the Info Valley Special Economic Zone, the second at the Baylis Mouza under Cuttack Urban Police District, and the third is located at Pahal under Bhubaneswar Urban Police District.

These upgraded stations will look after the citizens of the area and strengthen policing in the sub-urban areas of the twin city. Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra and senior officers were present during the inauguration.
