Ganjam Imposes Lockdown Till June 30

The Ganjam district authorities have decided to impose a complete lockdown till June 30. The decision was taken to curb community transmission of the Coronavirus, said district collector Vijay Amruta Kulange. The lockdown will be in effect from 12.00 pm to 7.00 am every day till the end of the month.

However, essential services will be available from 7.00 am to 12.00 noon every day.

“Total lockdown be followed in Ganjam from today onwards up to June 30. Till today there has been no community spread of COVID-19 in the district. We have to prevent future community transmission. Please cooperate. Essential services will be allowed between 7:00 am and 12 noon”, said the district collector in his tweet.

During the lockdown, the movement of buses, cars, and auto-rickshaws will be restricted, and the public will not be allowed to venture out without a valid reason. The vehicles from the railway stations, airports will continue to ply as per standard operating procedures.

As things stand, Odisha has witnessed 11 deaths due to COVID-19, with the latest one being from Ganjam – a 50-year male who had recently tested positive.
