CM Asks IAS Officers To Share Ideas For Transformation

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, in a bid to further improve upon the delivery of government services, has asked each of his bureaucrats to share with him one ‘game-changing transformational idea’ which will help enhance the efficiency of such services.

Addressing the bureaucrats at the senior officer’s conference, the first of its kind meet which was attended by all secretaries, collectors and IAS officers, Patnaik administered the pledge to the officers with the gist that ‘people are the masters’. The pledge was along the lines of the government’s new model of ‘Mo Sarkar’, based on a feedback mechanism from the grassroots.

Though the government generally holds an annual conference of all district collectors, the first conference in Naveen Patnaik’s fifth term was held more inclusively. Officers of all levels and ranks, right from junior IAS officers (sub-collectors) to the Chief Secretary, attended the brainstorming event on emerging issues and challenges to governance.

“Good ideas generated by the discussions by groups of secretaries and collectors will be compiled by the general administration department. A report in this regard will be submitted to the Chief Minister by January 22”, said Asit Tripathy, Chief Secretary.
