3 Mega Projects Inaugurated in Kalahandi by CM Naveen Patnaik

CM Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated three power projects to supply reliable power to the Jayapatna, Koksara and Kalampur blocks in Kalahandi district with plans to expand to other regions in future. The projects will benefit 30,000 families including farmers, women and students.

The three projects include:

  • Establishing of a 220/132/33KV grid substation at Baner built at the cost of ₹ 82 crores
  • Setting-up of a 33KV feeder lines from Baner to Ladugaon & Badkutru
  • Building a 47km 132KV double circuit from the grid of Badkutru and Ladugaon villages that would be connected to Junagarh area.

Post the unveiling of the projects through video conferencing, the CMO tweeted, “the projects would benefit over 30,000 people of Jaypatna, Koksara and Kalampur blocks of the district in the first phase. With this, the villagers will no more face difficulties caused by frequent power cuts. The projects will also give a boost to agricultural and industrial activities in the region. The power supply will further be extended to other regions of the district in the coming days. For now, residents of the district will now directly receive the electricity generated from Indravati Power Project.”

Patnaik, in his inaugural speech, underlined that the gigantic irrigation project, enhancement of Bhawanipatna College into a university, a new Government Medical College, the Biju Expressway and a few other projects that are underway in Kalahandi. He also mentioned the various development works carried out by the government in the district and assured that Kalahandi will witness a new status of growth shortly.

Dibya Shankar Mishra, the energy minister, said, “the government has taken several measures for improvement in agriculture, irrigation, road transport, education and health sectors in the district. The Biju Expressway will accelerate industrial activities in tribal-dominated district.”

Meanwhile, Gavali Parag Harshad, the Kalahandi district collector, said, “it’s a historic day for Kalahandi district, which entering phase of transformation in the energy sector. This will surely lead to a quantum jump in development.”
