Odisha Matriculation Examinations Begin
Students of Odisha appeared for their matriculation exams beginning February 22, 2019, which will continue till March 8, 2019. More than five lakh students are appearing for the Annual HSC Examination 2019 conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE). The examinations are conducted for four categories of students – Regular, Ex-Regular, Madhyama for Sanskrit students and Open School Certificate for school dropouts.
Over 2,953 centres across the state have been designated for students to appear their examinations, with three-tier security around the centres in place to prevent any malpractice. The Board has taken all possible measures to ensure smooth conduct of the examinations. Section 144 has also been imposed on highly sensitive areas.
“The booklets will be sent to various examination centres from the designated nodal centres only on the day of the examination between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. and the examinations will be held from 9 am to 11.30 am,” said BSE controller of examination, Nihar Ranjan Mohanty.
This year, the board has taken a different approach for its evaluation. There will be four different sets of questions papers for objective and subjective questions and students will have to score at least 15 marks each in both, in order to pass in a subject.
Apart from the centres taking vigil in their own hands, the board has formed a total of 58 flying squads and 44 special squads and one squad in each zone to guard the examination centres. Similarly, the district collectors are also informed to form their own independent squads to conduct checking in their respective districts.
