Film From Odisha Stable Makes The Cut For Moscow Fest

The film ‘Runanubandha – The He without Him’ has been officially selected to be screened at the coveted 41st Moscow International Film Fest (MIFF) 2019, under the category ‘Films Around the World’.

The movie, produced by Odisha based Swastik Arthouse, had also been featured as one of the three Indian films at the international competition of 24th Kolkata International Film Fest, held in November last year. The only other Indian feature in MIFF 2019 is Reason, a documentary by Anand Patwardhan. Runanubandhu had also featured at the 11th Bengaluru International Film Festival last month.

On April 12, the film premiered across France and the United Kingdom, with screenings being organised at the Festival des Films Indiens de Toulouse in France, and London Bengali Film Festival in the UK. Additionally, it was also screened at the 14th International Film Festival of Thrissur, and at the Nitte International Film Festival in Mangalore.

Directed by national awardee Amartya Bhattacharya, and produced by Swastik Choudhury, the film features debutant Priyanka Ghosh Roy as the protagonist. Runanubandha, quite literally refers to the body’s memory in terms of spirituality. Shot entirely in Kolkata, and having written, directed and edited the film himself, Bhattacharya through Runabandhana explores the theme of a daughter’s search for her father in the overarching metropolitan of Kolkata.
