CM To Inaugurate Series Of Milestone Projects

The foundation stones for a slew of projects will be laid by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during his visit to Baleswar today, on the occasion of a zonal conference of the youth BJD. Furthermore, during this visit, Patnaik will inaugurate a railway over-bridge near Tamulia level crossing.

“The completion of these projects would give a boost to the life and livelihood of the district, mainly north Baleswar,”

said local MP and BJD district president Rabindra Kumar Jena during a programme.

The projects include Subarnarekha port with an investment of Rs 5,000 crores, a ring road worth Rs 350 crores around Baleswar, hi-tech business tower in the DIC complex (similar to the Fortune Tower in Bhubaneswar) at a cost of Rs 35 crore, and a bridge valued at approximately Rs 204 crores over the Subarnarekha river near Pantei Ghat.

The establishment of Subarnarekha port will restore the historical port that existed in the 17th century in Baleswar. It will be one of the largest ports to be developed in the eastern coast of India and the fourth one in Odisha after Paradip, Dhamra and Gopalpur.

According to reports, the port would have an initial capacity of 10 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), which will be raised to 40 MTPA over 10 years.
