Plasma Treatment to Start in Odisha from Tomorrow

The Odisha government has said that the state is set to start plasma therapy treatment from tomorrow, 15th July. The decision was taken a few weeks ago, following the footsteps of the Delhi and the union government.

The treatment will commence from tomorrow in SUM Hospital and KIMS Bhubaneswar, as well as Ashwini Hospital in Cuttack. Meanwhile, SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack will be assigned as the nodal centre for the treatment.

The resolution was taken at a review conference held under the leadership of BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik. At the COVID-19 meeting, Patnaik instructed authorities involved to intensify the invigilation of the situation in five districts – Ganjam, Cuttack, Khordha, Jajpur and Sundergarh. He also urged district observers to remain in contact with corona warriors and encourage them to perform their duties.

Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy has stated that around 7,000 samples are being examined every day in the state. Additionally, he has claimed that the number of tests will be increased to 9000 in the following week. Private hospitals will be permitted to conduct higher test analysis in the coming days.

Notably, the COVID-19 has also affected three legislators in Odisha. Most recently, BJD MLA Sudhanshu Shekhar Parida has tested positive for the virus. This occurred after Parida came in contact with BJP MLA from Nilagiri, the first legislator to test positive in the state.
