In a relief for the medics in the state, the plasma therapy, which was recently started in Odisha for treating COVID-19 patients, is showing signs of success. As per the latest information released by the Government, four out of six patients treated under the therapy are responding to the treatment.

The four patients have shown signs of improvement and oxygen support to their body has been withdrawn. They are likely to be discharged soon. The condition of the remaining two patients is stable, authorities informed.

So far, a total of eight plasma units have been collected from four donors. Out of the eight units collected, six have been utilised on four patients admitted in SUM hospital and two patients in Ashwini hospital.

Odisha is among the few states to start plasma therapy for treating COVID-19 patients. The facility was inaugurated last week by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at SCB medical college Cuttack, which is the nodal agency.
