Odisha Wary of Possibility of Second Wave of COVID-19 Infections
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has asked officials to ensure strict enforcement of COVID-19 guidelines in Odisha. This cry from the CM has come to avoid a possible second wave of infections after mid-December. The instruction came while he was reviewing the COVID-19 situation in the state.
“There should be no relaxation in implementation of the COVID-19 guidelines even as less positive cases are reported for some days”, said the CM.
While he thanked the people for adhering to the COVID-19 guidelines during Durga Puja celebrations, he stressed the importance of following a similar approach during Diwali. He highlighted the second wave of corona cases in Delhi, Kerala, and several European countries to caution the people.
“We have to adhere to the guideline like mandatory mask-wearing, maintain social distance and handwashing in order to avoid the second wave as well as possible lockdown like situation”, said Patnaik.
To deal with health complications post-recovery from the virus, the Chief Minister has asked the Health and Family Welfare department to train the para-medical staff and doctors. Chief Secretary A K Tripathy has informed about a task force being formulated that will prepare a standard protocol for the care of the post-COVID complications.
In the last 24 hours, 1474 people in the state have tested positive for the virus.
