Odisha Government To Bear COVID-19 Treatment Cost

The Odisha government has declared that the state will bear the entire cost of treatment for all patients that test positive for the Coronavirus.

Two exclusive hospitals for COVID-19 patients are being set up in association with two private medical colleges in Bhubaneswar, and the expenses related to the treatment would be taken care of by the state government, confirmed Subroto Bagchi, chief spokesperson for COVID-19.

Apart from this, the government has taken active action in setting up dedicated wards for COVID-19 patients in major government and private hospitals in various regions of the state.

As per current reports, a total of 370 samples have been tested out of which only four have been confirmed positive, all of whom are undergoing treatment in Bhubaneswar. Another 76 suspected cases have been kept in isolation in different hospitals. The people who were in contact with the four patients are being identified, and communication is being established with them.

Meanwhile, 1400 people have been booked for violating the rules during the lockdown. State Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay reported 61 cases of violation of protocol out of the foreign returnees who were advised home quarantine.
