Odisha Government Approves Diet Allowance for COVID-19 Medical Staff

The Odisha government has approved a daily diet allowance of Rs 240 for medical staff working in government-run Covid-19 hospitals and COVID Health Centres. The funds to meet this expense will be released from the Chief Minister Relief Fund (CMRF). Collectors and other authorities will ensure the implementation of the same.

“After careful consideration, we have decided to allow daily diet allowance for the doctors and paramedical staff engaged in the government-run COVID Care Centres, COVID Health Centres and COVID Hospitals at Rs 240 per doctor and paramedical staff per day. The above diet cost will be met out of CMRF,” the health department said.

“The daily diet allowance for doctors and paramedical staff shall be implemented immediately with prospective effect. The controlling authorities will ensure to provide quality diet to the doctors and paramedical staff engaged in the above three institutions,” it added.

The allowance will be provided as food and not any kind of financial aid, said the health department.

Meanwhile, Odisha has reported 543 new Covid-19 cases, taking the total tally in the state to 14280. Ganjam continues to remain the worst-affected district, recording 188 new cases. However, the recovery rate remains high in the state with a total of 9255 persons having been fully cured.
