Upon his return to India, he was advised to self-isolate for 14 days in New Delhi, following a screening at the airport. However, after one week, he traveled to Bhubaneswar by train and reached the state capital on March 13.

Soon after, he exhibited symptoms of flu and mild cough and went to Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar where he was tested positive. The victim is now kept under observation in an isolated ward at the Capital Hospital.

“He came to Capital Hospital on Saturday with flu-like symptoms, and his samples were sent for the COVID-19 test. He has been admitted to an isolation ward in the hospital, and his health condition is stable and undergoing treatment,” said public health director Dr. AK Mohanty. Further, everyone the victim was in contact with has been put under surveillance by the government and all other necessary action is being taken as per WHO guidelines.
