Health Personnel To Get Four Months’ Advance Salary

Appreciating the hard work of health personnel in the fight against COVID-19, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced four months’ of advance salary to doctors, nurses, and other paramedical staff. The video announcement stated that the medical personnel would receive their salaries for April, May, June, and July in the month of April.

“There is no comparison of your (doctors, nurses and other staff) selfless service to the people. I and the people of Odisha are with you and your families. I salute your spirit”, said Naveen Patnaik commending the tremendous effort of the medical staff.

The CM urged the people to show respect to the doctors and hospital staff. “Those who do not behave properly with the doctors and other health personnel will be dealt with firmly. I have already directed police to take action against such persons”, Patnaik said.

Additionally, the family and welfare department is appointing doctors, nurses, and paramedic staff, including retired personnel, on a contractual basis to help the state-run hospitals deal with the Corona outbreak. They will be hired for three months till June 30, which might be extended if required. The paycheck for a specialist will be Rs 5,000 a day, while a medical officer with an MBBS degree will get Rs 3,000 daily. Nurses, laboratory technicians, pharmacists, and radiographers would receive Rs 1,000 per day.
