Covid-19 Bhubaneswar: Total Tally Soars Past 1000 with 124 New Cases

The Covid-19 count in Bhubaneswar soars past the 1000 mark as it reports 124 new cases. This takes the total tally of infections in the capital city to 1043. Out of these, 457 have recovered while 574 are classified as active cases.

Among the new infections, 72 have been reported from quarantine centres while 52 are cases of local transmission. This makes it the highest single-day increase in Covid-19 cases in Bhubaneswar.

Bhubaneswar Covid-19 Cases in the Last 24 Hours

To curb the spread of the virus, the Odisha government recently announced a 14-day lockdown in the worst-hit areas of the state. The lockdown will be in effect from July 18 to July 31.

Meanwhile, Odisha recorded 718 new infections in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally in the state to 16,110. Of the new cases, 479 were reported from quarantine centres while 239 occurred through local transmission.

It will be interesting to see whether the lockdown helps in flattening the curve. With infections rising in a number of districts, the authorities have their work cut out to contain the spread of the disease.
