Coronavirus: 68% Local Transmission in Last Week a Worry for Bhubaneswar
As the nation gears up for Unlock 2.0, the local authorities in Odisha’s capital city have a new challenge in hand – a growing number of COVID-19 infections through local contact. In the last 7 days, 81 out of the 118 new cases have been reported as instances of community spread. However, the recovery rate remains high as 81 patients have recovered in the same timeframe.
In total, Odisha has reported 7065 cumulative positive cases, out of which 4946 have recovered completely and 2087 are active. Meanwhile, 25 people in the state have lost the battle against the deadly virus. In Bhubaneswar, the total tally now stands at 314 with 25 new infections reported on Monday.
The recovery rate in the state, however, remains to be a reason to cheer for. About 70% of the patients have fully recovered from the virus – a stellar number compared to other states in India.
As state borders open up and an increasing number of migrants continue to return, the number of corona cases is bound to shoot up. Nevertheless, Odisha has been tackling this challenge in an astute manner as a result of strict guidelines that have been put in place for all returnees.
