88% COVID-19 Recovery Rate Comes As Relief For Sundargarh
A high rate of recovery among COVID-19 patients comes as a big relief for Sundargarh even as infections continue to rise. A sudden spurt in the number of infections has been detected in the district recently, as the steel city of Rourkela reported 8 positive cases, out of which 6 belong to a single-family. The total cases in Sundargarh now stand at 138. However, 118 out of the 138 have recovered, and only 20 cases are active currently.
Aboli Sunil Naravane, the ADM of Rourkela, credited the towering recovery rate to extensive tests leading to the detection of maximum asymptomatic patients and immediate hospitalization. As per information provided by Naravane, the recovery rate till June 11 was a massive 88% of the total positive cases in Sundargarh.
“Sundargarh’s only testing facility at Rourkela started with around 30 swab sample tests daily. But now, 200-250 tests are taking place daily with fast results,” she said.
Rourkela’s testing facilities, which began its operations 15 to 30 days after other major laboratories in Odisha, has now developed into the fifth largest centre in the State. Till June 14, more than 10,000 samples have been tested in this centre, of which 7,000 belong to the steel city.
