Netflix introduces TikTok-like feature Fast Laughs: Details

It seems like the influence of TikTok and the concept of short videos is bringing about a big change in the direction that social media is heading. Instagram and Facebook now have their own short video features. Youtube Shorts is creating a stir and is slowly becoming a major selling point.

Considering the growing popularity of video content, Netflix is now reported to be following this trend by coming out with a similar feature. They have announced their plans for introducing a new feature called Fast Laughs. This feature will roll out on Netflix soon and it will offer videos that come in short format to entertain the users.

Netflix Fast Laughs will show vertical video feeds in full screen. But, there are a few major differences between TikTok and Fast Laughs. Unlike TikTok videos that are created by users, Netflix Fast Laughs uses excerpts from its popular shows that have a laughter element. This feature will also compete with Youtube that officially streams clips from popular sitcoms and showcases fun content for the audience.

Fast Laughs feed includes clips from all the popular original titles to licensed programs. Users can check excerpts from popular shows like Friends, Rick and Morty, The Queen’s Gambit, Big Mouth, and more.
Another interesting feature is that instead of likes and comments that we are used to seeing on TikTok, Netflix Fast Laughs will encourage users to discover new shows and add them to their watchlist. One can add as many shows as they want via the Fast Laughs feed.

Netflix has been rolling out a series of stand-up specials from comedians around the world. But since these specials are more than an hour-long, the audience doesn’t always watch the entire show. Fast Laughs will appeal to this audience base who just wants to catch the highlights from these shows.

Fast Laughs could provide competition to YouTube by attracting all the movie buffs to the platform.
