Two from Odisha Among Top-10 in UPSC Exam
Two IAS aspirants from Odisha – Abhishek Saraf and Sanjita Mohapatra have cracked the Civil Services Examination 2019 and are among the top 10 rank holders. While Abhishek Saraf is ranked eight, Sanjita has secured 10th rank.
“I was confident of making the cut but had never expected that I would get such a good rank. I am elated with the results,”
Sanjita Mohapatra
Elaborating on the ‘unique’ interview round she faced she said, “I was interviewed for around 30 minutes. The panel asked me about the migration problem which was going on during the pandemic, women’s status in Odisha, child labour and many other topics. I gave the interview in face masks, face shields, gloves and proper social distancing. This year’s interview round was unique.”
As congratulatory wishes poured for her, she thanked her family and friends for their support.
Sanjita said she didn’t rely on the number of hours for preparation, instead focussed on the content more.
“I used to set a target of completing a subject within a specified time. There used to be a daily, weekly and monthly schedule. I would ensure I had finished all the topics before I went to sleep. Everyone has a different style of studying. There is no point in imitating anyone.”
Sanjita also gave a few quick tips to IAS aspirants.
“To fellow aspirants, I would say will power and patience is needed for the UPSC exam. There might be moments when you would feel like giving up. But then remember and think why did you start preparing in the first place or why do you want to become an IAS/OAS officer? Every day is a struggle. Take help from family and friends but don’t give up.”
