IIT Bhubaneswar Sees Record Placements; Median Salary Up 50%

The demand for qualified techies is visible across corporates in India as 55 per cent of IIT Bhubaneswar undergraduates have reportedly secured top placements in the first three days. The placements at IIT Bhubaneswar in the current season have seen a 50% increase in median salary.

A large chunk of the placements obtained by undergraduates belongs to students from the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) stream. As per an official release, this is the first time when such a large number of undergraduates got offers in just three days of the season. Some blue-chip companies such as Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Flipkart, Paytm, Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Tata Steel, Unacademy, Samsung RI, Mathworks, Silicon Lab, Analog Devices, D.E. Shaw, GE, Ring central, Future First took part in the placement drive.

Meanwhile, most recruiters are IT companies and Startups hinting at a growing trend in niche sectors. There is a 50 per cent increase of median salary to 24 LPA from 16 LPA of last year.

“Better placements over the last year indicates an optimistic placement scenario despite fears about the new variant of virus omicron surfacing and posing to affect the business economy throughout the globe,” said Prof. RV Raja Kumar, Director IIT Bhubaneswar.

Currently, over 80 per cent of IIT Bhubaneswar students are on campus and the institute is conducting its classes in physical mode as well as on virtual mode.
