Odia Filmmaker’s Short Film Screened In United States

Odisha film-maker Ashutosh Patnaik’s short film, titled ‘Sanjog – A Connection’, has been officially selected among the platter of 526 films at the Caravan Smartphones Short Film Festival in Chicago.

Patnaik’s film is among the thirty chosen to be screened publicly as part of the Global Citizen Smartphones Short Film Festival and was also screened for the public at the Burning Bush Gallery in Wheaton, Illinois, on Friday. Additionally, the film would also be made available online on the website of the festival, for global citizens to watch.

The film revolves around disability issues and tries to rake up awareness about caring for the disabled, among others. While Ashutosh has directed it himself, the background music score was developed by Parag Kumar Behera, and Biswajeet Kuldi has taken the shots.

“There were over 500 short films from across the globe and the judges selected the best 30 from among them. They were then screened for the public. It’s really an honour for a young film-maker like me, when a film made here gets a platform on a world stage. It will motivate me and other aspiring film-makers to go further and try a variety of content”, said Patnaik.
