Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) has launched a destination wedding package to promote tourist footfall in the State. Panthanivas of Gopalpur, Rambha, Konark, Puri, Chandipur, and Barkul are available for booking in the first phase.
The base-level package is offered at Rs 2.17 lakh which would include 25 rooms for two days, three meals a day for 50 persons and a grand wedding meal. The prices differ depending on the facilities and quality of offerings.
To provide further incentives, OTDC Chairperson Shreemayee Mishra has declared that, with the wedding package, the newly-wed couple would be gifted complimentary honeymoon and marriage anniversary packages. “Since people are taking interest in destination weddings, we hope the new initiative will be a trendsetter,” she said.
Once booked, the wedding family will not have to bother about wedding preparation. All the preparation will be taken care of by the corporation including decoration, mehndi, cultural programmes, ritual arrangements, videography, and local sight-seeing. “We have also signed agreements with online travel intermediaries like MakeMyTrip, Goibibo and Yatra for online booking,” said an official.
The OTDC has also decided to ply two new buses for sightseeing in Kalahandi and Bolangir. Additionally, the corporation is planning to launch a houseboat and floating restaurant facility in Chilika.
