Odisha Reaching Out To Industries For Business Reforms

With an aim to attract more investments in the state, Odisha has started reaching out to industries for business reforms. To begin with, the state is hosting a series of workshops, kicking off with a workshop at Angul to sensitize the industry on a suite of business reforms. Senior officials from Industrial Promotion & Investment Corporation of Odisha Ltd (Ipicol), the state’s one-stop investment promotion agency and the Directorate of Industries sensitised the stakeholders.

Business Reform Action Plan (BRAP) is conducting the workshops at six key industrial hubs in Odisha – Angul, Bhubaneswar, Balasore, Berhampur, Sambalpur and Sundargarh. The state government aims to reach out to 720 industries through these workshops which will continue until the first week of November.

The workshops are aimed at promoting ‘Ease of Doing Business’ in Odisha. Though Odisha earned the tag of ‘leader state’ as per the last EoDB ratings, it trailed other competing states in the implementation of an array of business reforms.

To ease investments in the state, the government had launched the Single Window Investor Facilitation & Tracking (GO-SWIFT) – a single portal for the entire life cycle of investment from conception to implementation and beyond.
