Odisha In Talks With International Firms To Attract Investments

The Odisha government has commenced consultation with various business houses in Japan, Korea, and the United States for investment in the state, as per an official. This was disclosed at the COVID-19 situation review meeting conducted by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

“Talks have already been started to attract more investments from Japan, Korea, and America,” said a senior official after the meeting. Additionally, the state government is charting out a model policy to resolve issues faced by the industries, he said.

The official also confirmed that discussions will be held with Chamber of Indian Industries, Indian Chamber of Commerce and Banks as early as possible before formulating the model for overcoming the crisis. He added that the MSME sector has been badly hit and is in dire need of a revival plan.

Additional Chief Secretary cum-Special Relief Commissioner P K Jena said that the state government has issued necessary orders to enable inter-district movement of workers.

Jena also confirmed that normal labour-intensive works will continue in both rural and urban areas of the districts and municipal corporations coming under green and orange zones.

Construction works in urban and Municipal Corporations areas under the red zone will be carried on if workers are available in those areas. In such urban areas under the red zone, workers from outside shall not be permitted to come, he added.
