Dhamra Port Ready To Fight COVID-19

Amidst the Corona outbreak worldwide, the Dhamra port located in the Bhadrak district of Odisha has started its own fight against the virus. The Adani owned port has swiftly adopted necessary measures soon after receiving the guidelines from the Ministry of Shipping (MoS).

The port authorities efficiently sent the advisory to the registered shipping agents on the novel virus. All the incoming vessels have been advised to monitor their crew members/passengers for the development of symptoms which are suggestive of the virus and report to port control through the Maritime Declaration of Health (MDoH).

The port doctors are supervising and looking into possible contamination in any vessel, also checking the joining date of each member on board to clear any doubts. It is only after the heads-up of the doctors that the vessels are given Free Pratique. The port pilots, who are the first to come in contact with the vessels, are provided with N-95 masks, disposable hand gloves, and hand sanitizers.

A high-level meeting was attended by the port CEO, where the Secretary of MoS was also present to check on the preparedness. The port has already started thermal screening, especially of passengers coming from suspected countries. The port authority has made arrangements to screen all cargo and personnel. They are also maintaining temperature logs and restricting human contact to the minimal. Any anomaly is immediately reported to health authorities.
